Whitewater Rafting - Naranjo River Lower Section (May - Dec)
The Naranjo is one of the most exciting whitewater rivers in Costa Rica, and it's right on your doorstep, it's literally the southern border of Manuel Antonio National Park and the closest river around for rafting.
This lower section throws class III and IV rapids at you. You'll want a bit of rafting under your belt, though bold first-timers looking for a proper challenge are welcome too. The river drops steeply out of the coastal mountains above Quepos, tears through a gorgeous jungle gorge, and carries you all the way down to sea level past farmland and palm plantations.
Picture jungle spilling over both banks and canyon walls dropping straight into the water at 90 degrees, then add the whitewater. That's your day. Best for ages 12 and up.
